The Fitzroy - Welcome to the end of the world, we hope you have a nice holiday.

The Fitzroy feature film which I personally was so pleased to work on last year is a black comedy feature film set in an alternative 1950s.

The world is covered in poisonous gas. The Fitzroy hotel, a leaky submarine beached just off Margate, is the last refuge for a traditional summer holiday. To be asked to step away from what my normal role in film is in supplying the supporting artists and to be brought on board as the diving safety officer it combined my two biggest loves. It was an unforgettable experience and just want to say here thank you to the producer Martin Walker who I met when he was location manager on 'Cockneys vs Zombies'

The Fitzroy is the debut feature film written and directed by Andrew Harmer and produced by James Heath & Liam Garvo through Dresden Pictures.

There are some drawbacks of having a hotel on a submarine and they can now also be seen and explored in The Fitzroy in The Fitzroy Comic

That’s right the Fitzroy team have made a comic and I had the pleasure of watching the first copies coming of the press this week.

The world within The Fitzroy film simply didn’t give enough scope to show the universe that had been devised outside the submarine. The production team would often discuss during production what characters outside the sub on main land Britain would be doing, how they would be coping with the post-apocalypse.

They wanted to represent this world and tell the stories going on within it. Then it hit home, why not make a comic? So not being comic people themselves, they teamed up with the fantastic guys at 'Dead Canary Comics' to get to work on making a comic.

Working with the guys to create stories that take a look at what life would have been like for the citizens of the UK that were committed to ‘chinning up and carrying on’. Everyone pitched and worked together to help gather the best talent they could muster, donned the gas masks and went a-travelling.

The comic is an anthology book featuring six short stories from the world of the Fitzroy, along the way we’ll meet French balloonists Claude and Marcel, make a call with travelling salesman Alvin, enter the wonderful world of Lord Blatherington and watch the weirdest game of keeping up with the Jones’ ever played.  The comic will feature art by Will Robson, Will Kirkby, Patrick Lindberg, Charlie Hodgson and other incredibly talented artists.

It was an pleasure and a huge first for me, my cheek is so swollen from my abscess that my face looks like Kim Kardashian's bum but am hoping am going to be OK as am so looking forward to celebrating the launch of the film and the release of the comic at a little soiree in London on the 20th November.

Combining my two huge passions in life this means such a lot to me and we will be celebrating the launch with a special 'Fitzroy Martini' created and mixed by 'Platform.
